17 SDG's continued-part 3

I am still giving you the series on the 17 SDG's. Today we shall continue with goal 8 which is Resilient infrastructure and industrialization. Here a country's development is measured by how much it is able to develop sustainable infrastructure for rapid industrialization. For instance, has the country the necessary infrastructure in place for the refining of her crude oil so that they will stop importing refined petroleum products at higher prices thus impoverishing the masses more. This is so since transport cost will rise and other economic factors will be paid for at a higher cost and masses will suffer further impoverishment thus even disturbing the achievement of goal 1 which is ending poverty. We therefore state clearly that sustainable infrastructure and rapid industrialization are very important for the growth of any nation. And goal 9 is Reduction in inequality. Here the government should endeavour to bridge the gap between the haves and have nots. Let there be level playing ground in the distribution of the nation's wealth. The 10th sustainable goal is Safe and sustainable cities and human habitats. The government should ensure that cities are well planned with houses properly spaced to avoid turning the cities into slums and ghettos. Good town planning should be followed and enforced to make the cities safe for human habitation, with well planned and constructed roads and streets. Good traffic lights should be installed at strategic places to reduce traffic congestion. Goal 11 is Sustainable consumption and production. How can the government achieve this? It is by encouraging agriculture to produce both food crops and cash crops. The cash crop economy will provide raw materials for local industries and this if sustained will lead to the country's rapid industrialization and economic growth. This will in turn lead to higher standard of living. With the production of food crops the citizens will have enough to eat thus eradicating the diseases associated with malnutrition such as kwasiokor. So a country will measure her development with how far it is able to achieve sustainable consumption and production with a given period. If this index is showing negative then the ship of State has to be revisited for necessary adjustments so as to achieve this goal number 11. To be continued in my next post.
